Olbia

The cruise was uneventful and smooth and we got a good night’s sleep. We are woken at 7, pack our things, stand a bit on deck to see the last bit of the sunrise, have a quick breakfast, stand a bit more on deck and finally arrive a quarter to nine in Olbia.

We decide to go into town for a coffee and as it is Saturday to try to find the market. The streets in the old town center are pretty empty at 9 in the morning. It’s a bit of a walk to the market in “Via Sangallo” but we don’t give up and when we get there we are rewarded by a mix of stalls selling everything from underwear, kitchen utensils, cheep jewelry to a large variety of cheeses and salamis and wonderfully fresh local fruit and vegetables. It’s a feast and we taste our way through it. In the end our bag is full with half a large salami, three different cheeses (a very tasty taleggio, a mature sheep’s pecorino and a young pecorino), a piece of bacon, a bag of the typical bread, olives, grapes, plums, radishes and a salad. Prices are very reasonable. With this load we make our way back to the Harbour where the Bulli is parked.

In the meantime it has become quite warm so we try to walk in the shade when possible. At the Piazza Margherita we stop for a coffee and a piece of freshly baked Marmorkuchen before returning to the Bulli. There is just one more thing we need to organize before leaving Olbia - some booze ;-) We make our way to the supermarket and then we are off towards Cannigione where we are planning to stay a few nights on Camping Isuledda.
