Cerro El Alcazar

The beauty of individual traveling is the spontaneous and flexible route planning whenever you come across something that was not part of your initial plan. In fact plans do change almost constantly for many reasons. That’s how we stumble over the Cerro El Alcazar which we didn’t know that it exists until we pass by it.

Karin only catches a climbs of something as we are heading north toward Paso De Agua Negra and demands to stop and turn around. From the other side we can even see a small sign pointing to Cerro El Alcazar. Not knowing what it is we leave the main road to a small path up the hill.

Only five minutes later we turn a corner and this beautiful and amazing rock formation (S 31.47753 W 69.39916) is opening up in front of us. Pretty hot in those little canyons as it is again a beautiful day. We explore at least some parts and take some pictures. It is very different to the other parts around here and worth while a short side trip. Would be a good place to stop for the night but it’s still in the middle of the day. Our plan is to pass the border of Argentina towards Chile. So we move on not knowing if we will ever come back.
