Cannigione

We were here last year and we know it has some lovely spots right next to the sea. The idea is to rest here a couple days before exploring new places. It’s less busy than last year and also less windy which both we enjoy. We pick a site next to a small beach, get installed and have a delicious snack. Everything we bought on the market is really tasty! We go for a swim and enjoy the sun until it sets behind the hills.

The night was cool and humid but when we wake at half past eight the sun is already shining. Not on our site though... we are in the shadow of some trees. Hm. Not good. While Michael prepares breakfast I check out some other spots. There is one very close to ours which is a little higher up and it already gets sun... we carry our breakfast table there and Michael checks at the front desk whether it is free. Yes! It is! We finish breakfast and then move our things. This is better!

Later we decide to go cycling. We take the road to Palau and then ride to Porto Pollo. There are some beautiful sand dunes and also a lot of wind surfers. Which means there is usually a lot of wind. Not where we want to be. We backtrack and shortly before we reach Palau take the road to Arzachena. After 2,5h we are back at the camp. It was a nice tour with 50km and 400m ascent. Now we deserve a little snack and a cold beer :-)

Again the night was cool and humid but on the site we are now we get sun a lot earlier. We have breakfast and then decide to have a lazy day as Michael is still not feeling 100% well (he has had a cold before going on vacation). We walk over to the lovely small beach we already know from last year and spent a couple of hours there sunbathing and reading. We return to have a snack and I go for a round of jogging. In run to Cannigione and back (in total 8.5km), have a quick dip in the sea and go for a shower. After the obligatory early evening Cuba Libre we have dinner a tthe restaurant on the campsite. Nothing special but ok (most important: we don‘t have to do dishes ;-)

This morning we wake to overcast skies. I am a bit disappointed but at least it is warmer than the last few mornings and at around 10am the sun is out again. We get ready for another tour with the bicycles. We take the direct route to Arzachena which is very scenic but also very steep in places. Then we turn towards Luogosanto and visit the Giant‘s tomb Coddu Vecchiu on the way.

The street is good with little traffic but very hilly... after a while we turn right towards Bassacuchena? It’s a minor road with more hills but also with very beautiful views. Unfortunately the battery of Michael‘s mobile with the navigation is almost finished and we are worried we might not find the right route so we backtrack all the way to Arzachena and then take the longer but flatter route along the coast back to Cannigione. 4km before we reach the campsite Michael‘s front tire goes flat. Sh... Back at the camp we take a snack , go swimming, take a shower and are back on the beach just in time for a sundowner... It was lovely here on Camping Isuledda but tomorrow we are going to leave.
